General Tours and Preparing - There are many preparations that you can make before you depart for Nepal. Most important are your clothing passport and a visa for Nepal. However, the following information will assist you to get ready for a touring in Nepal.

Immigration Requirements: It is your responsibility to arrange visas before you travel. Passport must be valid for at least six months after the end date of the trip. All foreign nationals (Except the Indian) require a visa to enter Nepal. Visas are obtainable from Nepalese diplomatic missions and consular office abroad or on issued at the entry points. It can be extended at the Department of Immigration in Kathmandu. People willing to get entry Visa at the airport or any of the land entry points are required to fill a visa form with two passport size photo. Travel Insurance: Many of the problems for which we cannot be held responsible for can be insured against. We highly recommend that you take out insurance to provide adequate cover for medical expenses, personal accident, loss of baggage and curtailment or cancellation of trip. The insurance we require you to take out makes sure everyone is properly covered if such an event occurs.

Health & Fitness: There are no statutory requirements unless you are arriving from an area designated as infected by cholera or yellow fever. We recommend that you update with your regular vaccinations against typhoid, tetanus, polio and hepatitis A, meningitis and Diphtheria. Nepal was declared Malaria free in 1960’s. However some cases of malaria are observed, and therefore we recommend taking precautions while traveling in malaria prone areas. 

Normal physical fitness wills enough to enjoy the touring in Nepal. However, if you are planning to join a commercial trekking or mountaineering you will need to develop a high level of fitness so that you can comfortably and safely endure several weeks on the trail.

Important Stuff: You should make copies of passport & visa, one to bring with you and one to leave with family or friends. Keep these separate from your passport. Other things you should have copies of are insurance policy, birth and health certificate, a record of bank details and traveler’s cheque details. You should also have contact numbers of next to kin, Bank and Insurance Company and your travel agent/ flight booking office.

Clothing: Lightweight and tropical clothes with umbrella are advised for June to August. Between October and March, light clothes are worn in Kathmandu, with a coat for evenings and warm clothing for the mountains. During winter, we recommend layered clothing! This means that the majority of your clothing can be worn in layers, so that you can put on more clothing if it is cold or take off layers as it gets warmer. It’s good to wear pollution mask when you travel outside of the hotel. In out side to valley, air is pretty much clear but sometimes dirt may disturb during dry season when traveling dirt or graveled road. Chitwan has sub tropical climate with high temperature and humidity. You can wear light cotton shirts, t-shirts and pants. Safari colors or dark cloths are preferred in the woods. We suggest avoiding bright red in safari as it agitates wild animals.

Safety & Security: Safety and security are a high priority of Nepal Adventure Point. Many national governments provide a regularly updated advice service on safety issues involved with international travel. We recommend that you check your government’s advice for their latest travel information before departure. We also strongly recommend the use of a neck wallet or money belt while traveling in Nepal, for the safe-keeping of your passport, air-tickets, cash and other valuable items. Leave your valuable Jewelers at home you won’t need it while traveling in Nepal. Many of our hotels have safety deposit boxes, which is the most secure way of storing your valuables. A lock is recommended for securing your luggage.
