Godawari and Phulchowki – The highest Hill in Kathmandu Valley

Godawari and Phulchowki Hiking is situated at an elevation of 2782m. It is the highest hill in the south of Kathmandu valley. Hiking into this area is most interesting in terms of vegetation. The trail starts form Godavari, the national botanical garden. The heavily wooded slopes of Pulchowki are renowned for the large variety of birds and butterflies to be seen. There are no food and drink facility, the food must be carried. This is another ideal place to view Kathmandu and magnificent Himalayan range.

Details Hiking itinerary - Early in the morning, we drive from Kathmandu to Godawari. It is 14-kms and 45 minutes’ drive where there is botanical garden too. From here we start to hike gradually uphill along the rugged road through sub-tropical thick forest about four hours. The magnificent view of Himalayan ranges and the Kathmandu valley is breath taking on a clear day. After detouring sometimes here, you come down following the same trail to Godawari within two and half hours and drive back to Kathmandu.
