Overview

Dhampus Peak climbing (6012m) lies North-East of the big Dhaulagiri massif, this peak is also known as a Thapa Peak. The normal route to Dhampus Peak climbing follows the west-ridge, which connects Dhampus Pass (5200m), where our highest camp is placed, with the summit. This expedition exceeds the 6000 meter frontier; no technical climbing skills are required. The use of crampons depends on snow conditions. This means any experience in walking on snow/ice is advisable. During this trip you can enjoy the magnificent views of Summit offer the magnificent views of breathtaking scenery of Tukuche peak and Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, Annapurna 1,2,3 & 4, Tilicho Peak, Nilgiri South & North, exploration beautiful hamlets around Kaligandaki valley and more snow capped mountains.

Our trek takes us across the kali Gandaki River and then north into the heart of the massif; from the base camp we come to the high point of our trek, the traverse of French Pass (5,360 m), the hidden Valley and Dhampus Pass (5182 m), a high level; route which brings us back to the upper Kali Gandaki Valley in Jomsom. From here we, either, fly back to Kathmandu via Pokhara or we can continue from Jomsom till Birethanti or to Pokhara

Itinerary

 Upon arrival at Tribhuwan international airport, welcomed by our representative and transfer to hotel. The remainder of the afternoon is at leisure. A pre trip meeting and briefing will held all together with you at hotel about the daily program activities by company representative and your trip Leader/Guide where you can discuss your final questions all together.

After breakfast the day will start with a guided tour of Kathmandu's historical and spiritual key attractions; including the historic Kathmndu Durbar Square, the famous 'Monkey Temple' (Swayambunath) and then finally visit to Patan Durbar square which is situated the heart of the city constitutes the focus of visitor's attraction. In the evening there will be pre-trip discussion where you can meet your group leader/guide then you can ask any questions you may have.

This day after breakfast being early in the morning we drive to Beni (850m) via Pokhara, approximately the drive should take 8/9 hours and you’ll find most of the part enjoyable, and offering good scenery. Beni is at the confluence of the Myagdi Khola and the Kali Gandaki. 

Now you begin your trek from Nayapul (1050m.) to Tirkhedhunga (1577m) via Birethanti (1065m) which takes about four and half hours. After breakfast at hotel, you could drive for 1 and half hours to Nayapul. Then you start your trekking. The first part of your trek is easy passing through numerous small villages and settlements. Afterwards you could ascend gently to the final destination of the day. The majority people here are Gurung and their religion is Buddhist. They are engaged in agricultural activities, tourism business. 

To begin your trek, you could ascend steeply for the early 2 hours and then ascend gently passing through Ulleri (2070m) and Banthanti, Magar villages. On the way, you could see good view of Machhapuchhare (6997m), Hiunchuli (6441m), and Annapurna (7219m) south. Now your trail is quite easier passing through rhododendron and shadowy trees and descends gently up to the final camp. You could see some of the wild life such as monkey and various species of birds. 

Early morning hike to Poon Hill (3200m). This day you can enjoy the sunrise view over Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m.), Tukuche Peak (6920m.), Nilgiri (6940m.), Varaha Shikhar (7847m.), Mt. Annapurna I (8091m.), Annapurna South (7219m.), Annapurna III (7855m.), Machhapuchhre (6993m.), Annapurna IV (7525m.), Annapurna II (7937m.), Lamjung Himal (6931m.) and other numerous snowcapped mountain peaks. After breakfast trek from Ghorepani we crossing Chitre (2420m)) the trail descends towards Phalate (2390m) and down to Shikha, you will meet another large Magar village. The trail makes a gentle descent to Tatopani (1183m). There you will be able to enjoy the natural hot spring at Tatopani (1189m.) It is believed that one who takes bath get rids of skin diseases. 

The followed route ascends gently up the Kali Gandaki Gorge, the deepest gorge in the world, towards the village of Dana, which is surrounded by orange groves. From autumn to winter, baskets of these oranges are offered for sale to passing travelers. Just beyond the small hamlet of Rupse Chhahara, the place famous for its beautiful waterfall. From here, the trail enters the steepest and narrowest section of the gorge, but the layered stone path is well-constructed and wide. When the rock cliffs end, we descend to the river before making the short climb back up to Ghasa (2010m). This is the first Thakali village we come across and the houses here are all built in the flat-roofed Tibetan style

The trail goes gentle uphill until you reach Lete (2480m.) crossing suspension bridge over Lete and then you will enter Kalopani (2560m).The trail goes to Larjung (2560m). The trail goes towards Khobang (2580m) and enters the large village of Tukuche (2580m) which is a large Thakali village. There are apple distilleries, apple orchard, Chortens, prayer flags, Mani walls and farming terraces then trails move through flat land till Marpha village.

From here we started our ascent to the Hidden Valley all the way to High Camp to summit. Our guide will give important and useful information about the situation on climbing Dhampus Peak and about next day’s activities. From today the accommodation will be tented camp for next two days and you will be having camp food cooked by our professional cook.

There are other options for those who not wish to climb. Hiking from camp can be quite pleasurable and adventurous. Sightseeing exotic ecosystem and breathtaking vistas of Himalayan peaks of Nepal can be equally satisfying.

There are other options for those who not wish to climb. Hiking from camp can be quite pleasurable and adventurous. Early in the morning we begin our ascent of the peak. After strenuous ascent, we finally scale the summit of Dhampus Peak (6012m) Summit offer the magnificent views of breathtaking scenery of Tukuche peak and Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, Annapurna 1,2,3 & 4, Tilicho Peak, Nilgiri South & North, exploration beautiful hamlets around Kaligandaki valley. After safe trip to the summit we make our way safely down then day back to Dhampus Base Camp.

This day we reserve for the day for unforeseen condition as bad weather, climber sickness or other hidden condition. We can use this day for climb if the abnormal situation comes. 

After summit Dhampus Peak (6012m) Dhampus Pass, the trial descends into the valley of the Kali Gandaki meeting the main trial at village of Marpha, on the west bank of the Kali Gandaki River. Marpha is home to many apple orchids as well as all the various food products made from the fruit. Apple Brandy is a local specialty that you may be lucky enough to taste en route. Continue to north, up the river valley to the town of Jomsom.

This 22 minutes morning flight takes us to Pokhara from Jomsom. Once we arrived at Pokhara airport, we then drive to hotel. In the afternoon we will have a sightseeing tour around Pokhara valley, which covers Fewa Lake, Devi’s water fall, Museum, Tibetan refugee settlement and Gupteshower cave etc. 

If you are interested in continuing on to the Chitwan Jungle Safari, River Rafting Adventure or any other tours you can start this day.

This full day at leisure to rest, relax or explore the local area in Kathmandu or do a bit of last minute shopping. You also have the option of doing some sight-seeing. 

After breakfast you will have some free time until the time to leave the international airport for your final departure.
